Pistes by head torch

How about taking to the pistes after dark, head torch to light the way, the adrenalin thrill of zooming down snowy tracks ...? Well, the guys and girls at Oxygene ski in La Plagne have been busy preparing new aprés-ski activities. Check out the Superbob Derby.

Jo writes:

Take 6km of empty pistes, 450m of vertical descent and 24 sleds – and what do you get? An hour and a half of unforgettable après ski, Oxygène-style!

It is what La Plagne has been waiting for, and it’s due to launch any day now. We’ve got special permission to open up the pistes after dark every Thursday and Friday night of the season for the biggest adrenaline rush in the resort.

Join our instructors to race our super-sturdy toboggans from Aime La Plagne (2000m) down to La Roche at 1550m ... in the dark!  Helmets, head torches and route guidance provided; the rest is up to you ...

Superbob Derby is for anyone aged eight and upwards. Our sleds are all brand new and equipped with strong metal brakes for easy control and steering. Better yet, it’s only 25 euros a go; equipment and transport (back up to the resort from the bottom of the run) are included. Launch date to be confirmed, but it’s going to be very soon. Watch this space.

[ED says: I tried a similar activity in Slovenia last season and it really was super fun. Riding a snowy track through the trees, negotiating tight bends and bumps. Quite spooky!]
