It’s not just the Alps enjoying bluebird days at the moment, but in the Spanish Pyrenees they have also welcomed some new snow. We have our first blog from Baqueira-Beret and the British-run BB school / Ski Inspired holidays. David Slattery updates us from the slopes …

After a short drive up from picturesque Salardu (just 5 minutes from the resort centre) it was time to take advantage of the great pistes in Beret – one of the Baqueira’s 3 main ski areas).

It was a day for all kinds of activities – in front of the Audeth cafe an open GS race was running. Lycra was in abundance for the more serious competitors, including some visitors from Andorra, but all were welcome to have a go on the course. A local ski school arranges the event, which is an interesting addition to the resort calendar.

It wasn’t all racing though – some great fresh tracks were available after Friday night’s snowfall if you went up to the easily-accessible Dossau peak.

Fresh powder, fresh tracks

Saturday night was clear and cold, perfect for the “Luna Llena” (Full moon) snowshoe walks to Montgarri that take place monthly in Baqueira.

Alas this writer was taking advantage of tapas and San Miguel further down the valley at that time!
