Snow snippets: reader update 05 February

Er, can't see much today in France - plenty of pow though!
We’ve just reported the heavy snowfall in France, and our editor Chris Gill is on his way to Bourg-St-Maurice right now - so he’ll be reporting on conditions there very soon.
One of our readers, Rose, is based in Valmorel and sent us this news:
“The snow is falling heavily again just as it did last weekend. So the pistes are remaing in good condition with virtually everything open in the Grande Domaine. We tried the black Riondet yesterday which is not always available. I’d forgotten how much poling was required to get to the lift and once there it was scarier than I’d remembered for two OAPs, one with a metal strut in his thigh. (Courtesy of the hospital in St Jean de Maurienne five years ago.) But we did it - eventually. Don’t forget French half term begins today and lasts for three weeks.’
Good reminder, Rose: the school crowds begin ... most French resorts will get increasingly busy from now on, until the beginning of March. Peak season is upon us! British kids will be heading off on half term breaks from 13 February.
