Step into spring

Women's Abstraction soft shell jacket
Soft shell clothing is a great alternative to a ski jacket for spring skiing and riding, combining sufficient warmth with a fabric that is highly breathable, lightweight and wind resistant. Jackets can also be worn in light snow showers as the outer fabric is treated for water repellency. If it doesn’t feel warm enough, combine with a thermal base layer and / or micro fleece and you’ll soon be pretty toasty.
As an example, I snapped up my bargain a few years back for under £50. It has served me well on the slopes, including a snowy and chilly day high on Verbier’s slopes – when it shed the flakes well – and sunny April skiing in France, when all I needed underneath was a quality thermal top.
You’ll normally find that most jackets include a close-fitting hood, pockets and lift pass holder. And they are comfortable for lounging around the resort in the evenings too.
Some soft shell clothing can be pricey, but try these two examples from Dare2be.
The women’s Abstraction Soft Shell jacket is priced at £50 and the men’s Digitalis at £85.

Items are available from Dare2be and Go Outdoors.
