Track the kids
The Flaik tracker
GPS technology has come up trumps for parents wanting to keep track of their kids while skiing – simply strap on a tracker and go.
Canada’s Mont Tremblant resort is introducing the Flaik service at its ski school this season, a device that allows children (and adults!) to be located in real-time using an armband fitted with a GPS. As well as the safety element, the family will be able to re-examine their day on the slopes too; everything is recorded on the website so that the kids can view which lifts and runs they took during the day, parents can see how fast the little monkeys were skiing, distance etc.
All you need to do is attach the device to an arm or leg, then play and go.
The system is already used successfully in several North American resorts: Copper Mountain, Steamboat, Whistler and Smuggler’s Notch among them.
Not just for kids
The Flaik tracker will be available in the resort to anyone who wants to try the device. Groups may find it useful for keeping track of each other too – it knows exactly where you are on the mountain! It provides a warning via SMS if you stray out of bounds or can help rescue services track you when lost.
