Hi,
a fascinating thread. I love looking at piste maps in advance as part of the anticipation of a holiday. I love looking them afterwards and remembering the runs.
 
One of you may already have said this above, but i’m convinced that the resort marketeers also influence the grading of runs. If there are no blacks at all, you won’t get families with keen teenagers along. If there are no "easy" runs, you won’t get beginners and improvers. So I reckon the majority of resorts end up with similar proportions of runs, and then you get real shocks in somewhere like Val and lack of challenges in the Cervinia’s.

I love looking at piste maps in the book. I can just sit down and read for hours.

This thread has been damaged by the loss of one, maybe two posts. SPAM ISSUES in the Site Display Problems section explains what happened. Since they would have been back on the previous page the only way to properly put the record straight would be to reproduce a large part of that page in a new thread, discussing the omissions in context. ... I don’t think we need to be reminded here about the spamming problem. There is a separate thread for that, so let’s keep those queries and groans there please.

It is unfortunate that this has happened, but I don’t know of a way to restore this and similar postings.

We ought to perhaps just start some new threads for a new season, eh?

So - how do you like the new keys on our piste maps?

“New keys”? Does this mean new-new (for the current 2012 edition -  I haven’t seen that yet - my fault for not looking) or old-new as in new-back-when-this-topic-was-started? I like those….. Richard
