Sadley the Spar in Arc 1600 has been taken over and it is now a Sherpa. As part of the changes, the lovely butchers counter has gone and is replaced by small selection of prepacked meats. On some days this was a very small selection of chicken fillets. I suppose this just increases the pressure to jump on the funicular and visit the Aldi in Bourg.

There’s no Aldi in Bourg. There’s a Lidl (only prepacked meat) and Dia, same. The best supermarket meat counter is in Intermarché (v. friendly), avoid Super U as expensive and variable quality. There is one ‘real’ butcher left in Bourg, half-way up the Grand Rue (pedestrian street) opposite the toy shop. Be prepared to queue and spend, but the meat is excellent.
