I write this post from St Anton after just being discharged from a two week stay at the hospital in Zams. I had an accident in Stuben whilst traversing back onto the piste near the Albonagrat chair. I hit a block of ice that i didnt see and got flung 10 feet into the air onto my back, rupturing my kidney and spleen. I just wanted to thank the air Ambulance for getting me off the mountain and for everyone who stopped to help. When skiing where you know there could be rough snow or rocks, I urge you to wear a back protector as it may just save you a trip to Intensive care, obviously a helmet should always be worn too it may not look great but it can stop a lot of harm

Sorry to hear about your accident but sounds like you’re on road to recovery.
