If in doubt, choose a base that suits the less confident skier, especially when that skier is the management. Stay in Colfosco, where your other half will build up her confidence and easily venture to the Alta Badia beyond Corvara.

we went for Colfosco in the end, and what a great choice.
beatiful little village, with relatively easy access to the busier Corvara.
great lessons, wife is now less timid intermediate!
skied more in Corvara, and she got on to some pretty good standard reds.
I managed Gran Risa - somehow - what a blast that is!!!!
didnt do the Sella Ronda this time, as it was a pretty crowded racetrack, and there was much better fun to be had away from the crowds.
next time…......

one word of caution. we stayed at the Kolfuschgerhof. this is a really fantastic hotel (not cheap of course). great food. nice rooms. fantastic service from the staff. But, it is not really ski in ski out as the website implies. there is a 200 m bus ride to and from the slopes across a road. However, they have several buses that will take you to the slopes and pick you up from anywhere in the town, with a quick call to reception. classy service!!!

Glad it worked out for you. I remember taking some beginners to San Cassiano [cough] years ago, and it was the Colfosco slopes that worked best for them.

Any chance you might file a detailed report on your trip at

bit.ly/skifile

??
