Is anyone old enough to remember having a pair of these. I still have mine and they are too comfortable to change. However, I would like to be able to remove the inner from the outer shell though. It is not obvious how this can be done as the rear part of the boot inner is attached to the shell by a square plastic stud arrangement.

Any ideas would be welcome!

Hah! Mine were 92s, actually. Did the number represent the year?

Supremely comfortable, but largely ineffective as a way of communicating with your skis. Bin them, and get some modern front-entry Salomons!

When you get to the age I am, comfort is far more important than communicating with the skis!

As it happens the problem is solved. The little black plastic square found at of the back of the inner has to be turned a quarter turn and the inner releases from the back of the outer shell. The rest of the inner boot can then be removed. What I had forgotten is exactly how many options you have of adjusting the fit not only by means of the fore-foot volume and heel hold-down but also the instep support and by altering the height and cant angles of the footbed.

Now that the problem is solved I can continue to ski incompetently but in total comfort and in less smelly boots.

It has also occurred to me that my boots ought to be defended on the grounds of loyalty. Over time, they have taken me down, on various pairs of skis, and on numerous occasions, amongst other things, the Streif, the Mur Swisse, the Bellevarde, the Tortin and the Tunnel, safely and all without incident.

To trade them in after all this time would seem like trading in a loyal wife of 30 years for an 18 year old porn star just because the sex might be better. Better communication may, or may not, result but it would certainly be inappropriate.

Respect is due!

It should also be pointed out that these are far from the oldest boots currently doing the job on the piste.

On a recent day out in Morzine (03/‘14) I saw a lady ‘of a certain age’ happily enjoying the day in a pair of boots on the sides of which could still be seen emblazoned SX 70!

AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM!
