Does anyone have any experience of good (or bad!) resorts for small children (5 and 3 years old) in europe, preferably driveable from the uk.

I’m looking for somewhere thats relaxed if the kids don’t want to ski but use their Toboggans or snowball instead.

Thanks

Klosters, in Switzerland (Davos/Klosters area) is excellent for small children, especially on the Madrisa mountain in Klosters Dorf.
Accommodation, though, is better in Klosters-Platz, where there are several excellent hotels such as the Silvretta Park Hotel (very kid friendly) and the Vereina (somewhat more posh). Both are 4*.
There is an excellent bus service (included in your ski-pass) between Klosters-Dorf and Platz and a train to Davos, if you should feel inclined to go there (better shopping). This train ride takes about 20 minutes.
Ski-passed for children up to and including 5 years old, are free.
Location wise, Klosters is very easy to find and it’s only 1 hour from Zurich.
The last couple of days and for some days to come, they’re having a new snow carpet and it looks absolutely fine.
Go to http://www.klosters.ch for the website.

Enjoy!

In France you could also try Morillon (it is one of the closest major ski area from Calais - part of Flaine, it is fantastic value and great for kids as everything nearby) see http://www.peakretreats.co.uk/default.cfm/loadindex.50 or Vaujany see http://www.peakretreats.co.uk/default.cfm/loadindex.70 and also Oz-en-Oisans see [url=“http://www.peakretreats.co.uk”>

Mongenevre is drivable, virtually traffic free, has nursery slopes and places to toboggan, play etc plus the kiddy club. Being so high the kids get to play in the snow at resort level.

Oberlech is fantastic. Traffic free and fantastic toboggan run down to Lech (even has it’s own piste basher and snow cannons). If you stay in one of the Oberlech hotels, the kids get free care in the creche. Downside is that it’s quite expensive to get a hotel but there are reasonably priced guesthouses, and once you’re there it is cheaper than your average French resort. Think if you add up the free child care versus cost of hotel etc, it might work out just as cheap as package holiday. Friedrichshafen (Ryanair), Innsbruck and Zurich are the main airports, with Innsbruck being the closest. Website http://www.oberlech.com is very useful. Hotel Monatana is excellent

Hi I’d recommend Le Rossier France and Selva Val Gardena. My fave is Selva which has been so good we have taken our kids back every year for last few years. They are now 5 and 7. The private tuition is excellent and in a matter of days they can ski with you. One our first trip my son was 3 and daughter 5 by the middle of the week we had skied to various other towns and it was a fantastic adventure. I fell in love with Selva as you can feel a sence of travel and the mountain huts are unbeatable. Children are a bonus for a change as the locals love them. I’d recommend the hotel Linder in the centre. Awsome scenery brilliant food and all kiddie friendly but adult and cultural too. You can all enjoy the enviroment together which lets face it on a ski trip with small kids is a challange in itself. Good luck.

I would recommend La Rosiere or St Foy. Both are family resorts, geared towards accomodating kids, good Creches and ski clubs for kids. I have included some links below which may be of interest
