Can anyone tell me where I can get good information on snowblades?

The thing is I am now thinking of changing to a set with ski release bindings, but I cannot find any impartial reviews or advice as to where to get a bargain.

I have been using them for quite a few years now and I absolutely love them.
The downsides as I see them are they are absolutely useless in powder and in the event of a tumble, the non release bindings are dangerous. (twisted my knee rather badly once)

I originally bought a non brand set for 55 euro to try them out and I loved them, so I bought myself a set of Salomon SnowJam blades (Both 99.9).

What length is best? (I’m 6’ 2, love blacks & off piste if they’ll go there)

Are the 120’s any better in the deep stuff?

Which brand is best?

Oh & what’s there proper name? Snowblades / skiboards?

Every year I see more & more of us on the slopes. (Almost as many snowbladers as snowboarders in Les Contamines when I was there last month, yet they don’t even get a mention in most sites, mags & books?

Thanks

Snow blades are great, aren’t they; nothing better for taming a mogul field!  But , they aren’t enjoyable in powder, and even worse in the crusted stuff. I’ve got two pairs of 90cm ones, Salomons and Fischers; no real difference in them, both have none release bindings, both can go diagonally in a big soft luggage bag.  Also have a pair of Head’Big Easys’ which are 94cm, wider, and have proper release bindings. BUT, real bindings are Heavy, so , I believe there is more risk of straining the old knees, so it is a self -fulfilling prophesy: If you stick to 90cm blades, non-release are OK. If not: go for release ones.

Cheers for the help guys…

I’ve just made a purchase!

I found a site called http://www.skiboardreview.com/ and I made a shortlist, then using google I found http://www.exclaimskiboards.co.uk and as it’s end of season, I got 35% off a set of Revel8 ALPs with a release binding. (20% off on the site, but I gave them a call & he offered 35)

They’re much wider than my Salomons, & 10cm longer, so should be much better in the deep stuff…

Only problem is, it’s likely to be another 9 months before I get to use them…

Anyway, can’t wait to get my hands on them
