Hello All,
Looking for some advice on any outfits in Schladming that provide private off-piste instruction for 2 people. We have conquered the blacks and would be classed as advanced skiers by most ability tables- 1 of us is a trainee instructor. We have made several forays into piste-side off-piste but nothing to strenuous and are looking to take things a bit further.

Hi there

You could try the private Monte Krah school. They do off-piste half or full days. Unfortunately the website is all in German, but the link below will give you a contact email and idea of prices.

Monte Krah

There used to be this outfit too: Helli Team Bedarfsflug Not sure if they are still operating, but I’ll see if I can get a phone number for you. Schaldming, although not known for it’s off-piste, is a nice resort and there are good opportunities for some gentle off piste - one notable area is on Reiteralm. Hauser Kaibling has some too.

Hi Wendy,
Thanks for that, i’ll look them up and see what they say.Previously I would never have been really into off piste but a 1/2 day with an instructor last year whetted my appetite and a chat with an I.A.S.I. instructor trainer who did a week 1 to 1 with a notable Irish mountain guide in Chamonix has me hungry.
                  Thanks again,

Hi Brian

Sounds good - let us know how you get on

I’ve found this number for Helli Team Bedarfsflug - +43 (0) 3687 81323.
There’s not much info online.

Also,  might be worth asking the Hopl school about their private options (they are based around Planai).

Hi Wendy,
Did a bit more digging last night much to the amusement of my better half who thinks Im crazy and having a mid life crisis !! Anyway I couldn’t find much on Helli Team but found Ramsau Ski School who do private off-piste lessons at 190e per day for 2 people and also do 4 hour tours from 40e per head !! I’ll give Helli a buzz just hope they understand my pidgeon German.I also like the look of Hopl who are closer by so I’ll let you know how I get on.

Hello again Wendy,
Just to let you know how I got on with the off-piste instruction.I’ve been in touch with Gerhard from Monte-Krah and he has been very helpful, asking the right questions to guage what he thinks we’ll need and also offering to loan us safety equipment f.o.c.The price is 50e per hour for the two of us which is pretty reasonable so we’re going for 1 x 2hr starter and the next day, if we’re still alive, a 3hr session "to find the really good snow" as he puts it.I got the feeling from speaking to him that he runs a good outfit and deosn’t seem to be only interested in the bottom line.
                  Thanks again,
                          Brian.

This sounds great, Brian. I’m really pleased that you’ve been able to contact them and get a good measure of what’s on offer. It certainly helps to assess the options before you go and I think you’ll be in good hands, as it were.

You really must report back and let us know how it goes ....

Any other readers used this outfit? Or the others in the area.
