Hi all

We’re reviving this thread, because we want to develop our beginner section further. There really must be some beginners out there ....!

Has anyone tried the Freshers courses run by the Snowsports UK? Or the indoor snow centre courses?

Chuthathip: Are you there? I hope you are still looking at the forum - have you decided whether to still try skiing this autumn? If I can be of any further help, let me know. To add to the glacier resorts that we mentioned, you could try Obergurgl - which opens mid-November. It has good beginner slopes and is one of the most snow-sure resorts in Austria outside of the glacier areas.

Great to hear from you Don. And thanks for your advice.  It’s never too late to learn and it’s great to read that you are enjoying the mountains.

Yes, it’s a section of the site that we haven’t developed enough yet, but plan to do so. And perhaps we could use some of your experience.

It’s a very good point about boots - I learned to ski in Bulgaria too, but it when there wasn’t much choice of rental gear around. I didn’t know how the boots were meant to feel really and ended up with bruised shins! Did you get good advice before you went away - or did you research most things yourself?
