I remember seeing this talked about in the skiing press last year, and I’ve just seen an advert for one. Has anyone bought one, or knows anyone who uses it? It’s a neat device that seems to be a sort of spring mechanism that’s supposed to take some of the strain off thighs/knees when skiing. My partner isn’t terribly young any more, and has great problems with knee and thigh pain when we ski - sounds like an answer to a prayer, but at over £300 including the delivery (which I think is a bit cheeky) it’s not cheap, especially if it doesn’t work! Any pointers about this device would be gratefully received.

it does work!!! i was the original sceptic until i skiied with a group in our chalet last year and somebody was using a ski Mojo. I went to their factory to buy one and they were really helpful. It feels wierd for first couple of runs but after that you really can ski all day as they claim. You have to remember to activate the spring by turning it on and off before lifts and i forgot once which was quite amusing. It looks quite complicated but its easy and comfortable to wear and you quickly get used to it.  i have bad knees and am not really that fit any more but its really effective. I thought it was nt that expensive as you would prob spend that sort of money on a good jacket and i got more value for money out of my holiday too. Several people have bought one on my recommendation. there are some good comments about it on Snowheads forum and you can always phone and speak to them directly although they do have several stockists now. good luck!

Anyone interested in the Ski Mojo might like to know that Edge & Wax (south of Horsham) will let you try one for a week. You pay the full price, but get refunded all but £60 if you don’t like it. Less than renting skis for a week, and there’s no commitment to shelling out the full £300 on something you’re not sure of. My partner’s going to give it a try, I’ll report back on what he thinks…

The Ski Mojo my partner bought has been a resounding success, I’m happy to report. It took some getting used to, particularly in terms of putting it on - it nearly got thrown through the window in the early stages. However it’s now been on three holidays with us, and he skis all day without any knee/thigh/hip pain at all. He only started skiing 4 years ago, and he’s 65 years old - always has the intention to do all the pre-ski exercises but never really gets started in any serious way. Not the recommended way to do it we know, but many people are guilty of this! He already had trouble with his knees before taking up the sport, so the Ski Mojo is truly a miracle-worker. The main problem with it is that when it’s not attached to the ski-boots, there’s nothing holding it all in place. Doesn’t sound like a problem, but as it’s worn under trousers, you can’t put them on until the last minute before going out. If anyone has found a solution to this problem, we’d like to hear it. Looks weird, is quite heavy to lug around (we usually travel by train) and it’s not cheap, but we wouldn’t be without it.
