Hi Ken

Thanks.  We’re very keen to get all this moving too. There’s lots of potential as you say –  we’re heavily focused on getting other sections of the site developed too, so these things take a bit of time to get going. As you say, the newsletter brings it all together.

Yes, absolutely agree - I view Facebook as just a means of getting a wider audience, and hence more people looking at the site. It can be more immediate too. Certainly not a replacement for anything here.

And agree about the topic list. Will look into this. So, you favour some sort of dining / restaurant section? I think perhaps it ought to be fairly broad to encourage all sorts of threads - from self-catering to mountain huts etc.

It was just a point that came from experience and also using WSS. It’s good to plan ahead and WSS doesn’t always give the detail needed. e.g. Docs at Winter Park does a plate of stacked nachos. Chicken cheese etc etc. A single portion would feed 4 and it’s at the base of the slope. Also which supermarkets yo use. Some are tourist rip offs and others dirt cheap and good value. This also applies to alcohol. e.g. in Colorado use the liquor stores, they are miles cheaper than the supermarkets. Just an idea, see what folk think

Hi there

Just started reading forum again. The Newsletter is great and reminds me to log on and catch up with things.

Keep them coming now it is a depressingly long time to next winter!

I agree, it is a long time to next winter but we are examining sport on glaciers where you can get good deals throughout the year. I also have a mate who is off to the Alps to do some major climbing next month so I’ll get his views on food. This also has a thread to training as I’m getting dragged into this as well and food is an important part of both training and rapid calorie sustenance at altitude. All done before, of course, but probably not at your basic punter level.

Hi guys

Glad you enjoy the newsletter - I’ll do my best to keep you entertained through the summer.  Gotta book to do too, of course smile

Yeah, there’s plenty going on with the glacier scene. I’ve had some great summer mornings on snow, followed by a wonderful hike in the high Alpine during the afternoons - great stuff. Perhaps we should start a separate thread though, eh ... here’s for the newsletter (though ideas/ feedback always welcome).

Wendy

I would certainly appreciate some first hand experience comments before we book up. A separate thread would be great and keep folk enthused through the long summer months! I’ll catch Nick when he returns at the end of May and feedback on food at altitude.
