My wife had a double ACL knee operation after an accident in Verbier and is nervous about skiing again. Can anyone recommend a resort that has nice wide cruising blues and reds that will rebuild her confidence? It could in Europe or North America. As we go at peak times it would be good if the slopes were not too crowded as well. A tall order but I live in hope ...

Thanks for a quick reply. T-bars are a definite no. She tore a ligament on one of these a few years ago and so I really want to avoid T-bars.

We have been to La Thuile and osiereit was quiet. Just very cold at the top and windy so did not manage to get across to La Rosiere. I will check out the others.

What are Winter Park and Breckinridge like?

Hi Richard

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions. Yes my wife has been injured on 4 separate occasions with the T-bar being an earlier ligament injury. Despite this she is still keen to ski and has been going to the gym regularly to build up her strength.

The suggestion of Flims/Laax is a good one. I enjoyed skiing there and remember the queue for lifts was short and the food/hotel very good. I like skiing in Switzerland and had a great time in St. Moritz.

Next step is off to Xscape and see if she copes. Now that her new ligaments are in place she could be an even better skier! At the moment she is learning to scuba dive ......!!!

“Hi Richard” ... must have been another of my accidentally deleted posts right before that. Obviously I exclaimed and expressed sympathy at double ACL and the earlier torn ligament.

Obviously I seconded Wendy about Laax but qualified that by suggesting Flims as the better place to stay for that area, with its local Foppa-Naraus sector being especially quiet and easy. The home run from there, assuming it is open, is a really long easy cruise.

Where else I recommended I cannot now remember. Are in Sweden probably, because it was my favourite from my early intermediate years (first skiing decade) and few know it. (Rodkulleomradet sector particularly recommended for Mrs. Esrio). In North America I’ve been only to Canada (from Banff I’d recommend skiing Sunshine rather than Louise) and California, so couldn’t comment on Winter Park or Breckinridge.
