Hi,

Looking for some advice -  my first ski trip was to Soldeu and we have decided to go back this year , now that we can actually navigate our way around the pistes!!  We loved the look of the Hotel Nordic when we were in the resort last time and planned to book it when we returned BUT is more expensive than the sport hotel in the same resort, which lloks to have a better rating.  Very interested to hear from anyone who has stayed in either - Thanks in advance for anyone who can help

I do not know the Nordic hotel, but the sport is a very big luxury hotel close to the lifts in Soldeau. If you can afford it I would say it has the best location in Soldeau. Confusingly, there appear to be two Sport hotels, either side of the road. The one in the lift complex appears to be the better and you do not have to dodge the traffic.

I have stayed at the Sport Hotel which is just next to a ski lift so a brilliant location. The town is pretty and the location excellent too. My wife loved the hotel because it was very luxourious and the Leisure centre was superb. We could swim from the inisde to the outside which is always fun. I stayed at the cheaper 4* part on the ski slope side. I think that they share the leisure centre. The food was great and it had a wide open lounge. I was not expecting too much and so was very happy. We fly to barcelona and hired a car. This might be cheaper option that France. The skiing is quite extensive but not too challenging. There are not many blacks. But there is a snow park and if the snow is decent then a low cost option. I want to go again for a short 3 day ski in the Pyrennes. Last season I also skied at the bottom of Spain in Sierra Nevada. I was not expecting too much and was surprised that the extent was pretty good and their was some decent runs. I stayed in Granada and there is a bus there each day and takes about 40 minutes. The ski hire was very cheap. Again a nice spot for a few days skiing and it was about 3000 m at the top so surprising high. I hear it suffers from strong winds but we had no problem.
