Please can anyone help, I am planning trips for this coming season and wish to find resorts that offer free or low cost lift passes for our two children.  They will be aged 7 and 8yrs after February 2011 and we intend to go at Easter 2011 so I need snow sure height of resort also to avoid lack of snow or the really slushy or icy conditions that lower resorts offer at that time of year.  Last Easter we went to Puy St Vincent and we got both our boys free with the two adult lift passes we purchased, I think Livigno in Italy are doing the same this year after about the 23rd March if the child was born in 2003 or after, this makes a huge difference to us as we have to keep costs down and then we manage to get away two or three times during the season.  Can’t beleive another season is nearly upon us yipee!!!

Hi. I went to Saas Fee last Easter with my two children and your two should get lift passes for free. It is done by year of birth, i.e. it was 2001 onwards this year, so presumably it will be 2002 onwards next year. The adult ones are more expensive than elsewhere (particularly given the size of the area) but not by too much. The place is great, especially in the Easter sun, when it can be very pleasantly mild in the village. The only downside is that the toboganning mountain (Hannig) is usually closed by April as it gets all the sun.

Try Obergurgl, children eight and under ski for free. There is very little walking to be done to get to any lifts, it is high and snow sure, ski school is central with easy access on piste from most hotels, we loved….but may not go back as it was just enough for a week (including a day in Solden included in the lift pass and a free bus ride away).

Many thanks for these suggestions, I’m going to look into them both.  If anyone has any others I’d welcome them also.

Hi

Ste Foy in France offers free lift passes for under 7’s and then its still cheap for over 7’s.

Doesn t look like mcuh skiing with only 4 lifts but there is considerably more than you would expect.

Great little resort, no queue’s, big thumbs up from us

Hi,

I don’t know if it helps but I run a little independant chalet company in Les Coches, Paradiski. We offer free kids passes to guests at Christmas and Easter . . . http://www.ice-fire.co.uk. The christmas offer is on the site already. The easter offer will go up in the next few weeks, but mention it when you book and we’ll be happy to honour it before it goes live.

Best wishes,
Heather

The Dolomites Superski area offer a free lift pass for Children who were born after the 28.11.2002 (http://www.dolomitisuperski.com/altabadia/en-US/584EN.html?idBlock=4354) when they are with an adult who buys a pass.
Hope that helps!

Thanks for the confirmation of Formigal Wendy,  I had a lot of fun a few christmas’ ago in Pas de la Casa .

I also can now add Cervinia to the list for children born after 31/10/2002 skiing with an adult purchasing an equivalent life pass, according to their website.

Happy new year to all, Adit

Many thanks for everyones help with my question above, we have now booked for a week at Easter in Livigno.  If anyone is interested we have booked accommodation and liftpasses included for 695 euros for all four of us.  We accept it won’t be the ‘Ritz’ but it gets all of us onto the slopes for a week in the school holidays for around a thousand pounds all in.  The other costs we have are made up of road tolls and diesel,  we’re driving over which we have done many times before and this will be approximately £300.  Eurotunnel is on tesco vouchers so that is a freebee.  Lastly ski and boot hire which will be pre-booked and in the region of £200.  A little spending money on top and we’re all done, as you can imagine theres not too much apres ski going on with a seven and eight yr old in tow so the spending money is not high.

hope this helps someone out there and heres to happy skiing

Adit
