Does anyone know of any operators that provide a product/brochure for glacier skiing. Plenty of info on the web but nothing about how to organise?

If you want to ski in summer, the best and easiest way is to put together a DIY package.

For example, you could go to Zermatt or Saas Fee through Geneva. It has plenty of flights from the UK with BA, Swiss and particularly easyJet. Connections to the resorts are very straightforward through the Swiss travel system - check http://www.sbb.ch

The resort websites (http://www.zermatt.ch & http://www.saasfee.ch) both have English language sections. Go to the accommodation pages and there is plenty of choice. You can even enter your dates and some search parameters and the accommodation providers will send offers and prices straight to your mailbox.

Skiing and other activities are simply organised on arrival. Both resorts run their ski lifts from very early in the morning until just after lunchtime. They are both surrounded by stunning scenery which is very accessible thanks to a huge network of clearly signed footpaths if you want a break from skiing. The Swiss Alps are brilliant in September.

They both retain a degree of "life" in the summer time - one great bonus of picking a resort in which local people live all year round is that there will be plenty of choice of restaurants etc.

If you don’t feel like diy-ing, Switzerland Tourism (http://www.myswitzerland.com/en.cfm/home) will help. If you really want someone to absolutely everything for you, you could get a Lakes & Mountains style package from a tour operator such as Inghams. In each case, you will probably need to make some arrangements "on the ground" yourself but this is very straightforward.

Try Peak Retreats:
They” class=“forum” target=“_blank”>http://www.peakretreats.co.uk

They have accommodation and info on summer skiing in Les Deux Alpes.

Or, as John says, try Saas Fee as a DIY trip: we went there a couple of summers ago - self-drive; accommodation easily arranged through the tourist board (although we just turned up and stayed at Saas Grund, in the valley). Very easy then to buy a lift pass and head on up to the glacier. Several shops offer equipment hire and it was quite a novelty strolling through the streets in ski boots / carrying skis, when everyone else was in shorts (mind you, it gets hot on the glacier too!)

Same applies to Zermatt. Lots of events going on during the season - including several top snowboard comps in the terrain-park. And there’s plenty to do when you’re not skiing.

Or, if you fancy a summer skiing course, you could try the likes of the Warren Smith Ski Academy.

I went skiing in the summer this year to Les Deux Alpes. It was great fun, but you can only ski for a couple of hours on the glacier as this gets rather slushy mid afternoon.

We got BA flights direct to Lyon and our accommodation throught a company called Simply Alpine who were helpful in suggesting a suitable resort.

The good thing about summer skiing is you get a fantastic tan, and take up some other sports in the afternoon.

Tignes has great summer skiing; 16 ski lifts and over 20 kilometres (130 hectares) of runs & a vertical drop of over 750 m, gives you plenty to do. For the summer ski season, the Glacier will be open from 18 June until 04 September 2011 & then reopens late in September. A popular hangout is the snowpark, offering 2 half pipes, rails, bumps and jumps of all sizes. Often there is a BBQ, music and you can watch some of the pro’s that spend their summers practicing here.
