I’m hoping to take my four month old baby daughter away for the first time this season, and I’m having trouble tracking down a hotel with a creche.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels with a creche in France, Switzerland or Austria that’ll take a baby this young for a few hours each day?

Also, any recommendations on specialist travel agents or websites would be appreciated.

Thank you!

There are not many hotels with creches that take young babies. However, here are a few that do. Hotel Riml in Hochgurgl (Thomson,Inghams), Hotel Sieblishof in Ischgl (Crystal), Hotel Le Petit Drus in Morzine (Inghams), les Cachettes in Les Arcs (Crystal). Otherwise, your best bet is with specialist chalet operators such as Mark Warner and Ski Esprit.

I used Crystal nanny service for my two little ones from 4 months. I found it to be excellent and much prefered it to leaving my babies in a resort creche. Your limited by resorts however I had great holidays every year. I have used Ski eprite too and found them to be very expendsive and better for your little ones when they are about 3 - 4 years.

Have used Crystal Club Hotels on a couple of occassions - Hotel Turquiose in Belle Plagne, excellent location on slopes, if you can suffer the horrendous transfer from Lyon! and this year in Claviere Italy. Having never used creches before for any of our kids didn’t know what to expect. Have to say that a wee bit disappointed as they seemed to spend a hell of a lot of time indoors to take care of the really young ones. I have heard that Ski Esprit are very good though, if a little more expensive. Probably better taking granny or grandad with you instead, as noboody looke after your kids better than immediate family. No offense Crystal.
PS Would avoid Claviere, as the resort is pretty rubbish.

I think the hotel Walser in Zell as See had a crystal nany service. I used it a few years ago. The hotel is excellent as well as the resort, but it’s very low. I also used crystal in Courmayeur and this too was excellent. Great bars with cosy couches that can accomodate a buggy or two in the afternoon, its almost an advantage taking babies skiing to Italy, it’s never a hassel and staff in restaurants give to extra special service.

Have you heard of Premiere Neige, at the St Foy station, in the Tarentaise valley. It is a family resort, with a private creche.

We found that this is one area where the specialist ski travel agencies really come into their own. With the very young babies many operators refuse to take them (some have a minimum age of 6 months) but will when they are quiet or at the instannce of the travel agent. The agent will also contact many of the tiny operators who you may not have heard of. Let them do the work. In the past we have used snow line who provided a very good service.
