First Choice launches Slovenia flights
British tour operator First Choice has launched weekly flights between Ljubljana and London Gatwick for the 2006/07 winter season.
The company is offering the new service with a view to promoting Kranjska Gora, Slovenia’s top ski resort, as a family destination. To date, holiday sales are said to have topped 1,000 packages and First Choice representatives believe that they will carry over 2,000 British tourists to the country between December and March. Another 400 are expected to visit the resort via Austria’s Salzburg airport.
First Choice wants to present Slovenia as a country with a similar standard of accommodation as Andorra, with prices that are equal or below those in Bulgaria. Due to the high demand, the company also plans to launch charter flights from Manchester next winter and add holidays to Bled and the neighbouring ski resorts of Kobla and Vogel.
Kranjska Gora is a pretty border-town resort at the foot of the Julian Alps. Its 30km/19 miles of slopes are best suited to beginners and intermediates searching for a quiet, unchallenging holiday. Vogel and Kobla are even smaller individually, but only a short bus ride apart. Both resorts can form part of a trip to Bled, with free buses to make the 20km/12 mile journey.
