Bella Italia at the NEC

The British Ski and Board Show returns to the NEC Birmingham from Friday 30 October to Sunday 01 November – and to celebrate its 21 years at the arena the organisers have put together an Aosta Valley special.

Pinot noir, anyone?
This year’s featured ski region is Italy’ Aosta Valley– home to major resorts such as Cervinia and the Monterosa valley, but also to lots of less well-known places.
To promote the area, the Aosta tourist board has launched a new website www.buyinvda.com and some exclusive deals for British visitors. Over the three days at the NEC there will be great rates on hotel accommodation and ski packages – which you can also discover on the website (see also the Crystal offers further down the page).
And it wouldn’t be Italy without plentiful fine food and wines: For anyone partial to top-notch Italian food [yes, please!] one of the Aosta valley’s leading chefs – Leo Gerbone – will be serving up some of his favourite recipes and wines at the Aosta Valley Mountain Gastronomy stand. Those keen to learn how to recreate these dishes can visit the ‘Secret Taste of Aosta’ presentation in the Fall-Line Skiing Talk-Theatre.
For more on Aosta, we’ll be posting a featurette shortly.
Family show action
As well as the Big Air Freestyle action on the ski ramp, you can have a go at skiing or boarding on the Skills Slope, learn how to ice-climb or test your limits on the new Nordic challenge course – a timed assault course. And there will be demonstrations of telemark skiing by Britain’s telemark champion, Andrew Clarke. And, of course, the latest fashions, equipment and products to whet the appetite for the slopes will be on sale – many at bargain prices.
