Scenic Villars is just a short hop from Geneva

Looking for an early family ski outing, that won’t cost a fortune?

We reported in September that Villars in Switzerland is to start the new winter season with a special family weekend, including free skiing for the kids and hefty discounts for mum and dad.

Well, it isn’t just Villars offering this deal: half a dozen or so resorts in the region are also taking part.

The resorts of the ‘Alpes of Lake Geneva’ area will be giving away heaps of family freebies on the opening weekend of 12/13 December. Not only do the under-nines ski for free, they can also save their parents a bob or two with free ski school and rental equipment on the same weekend. And parents are being offered up to half-price on the same thing. What’s more, selected lodging allows children up to 12 years old to share a room with their parents free of charge on the same weekend.

The resorts

The resorts all form part of the Vaud canton, some of the closet ski areas to Geneva and ideal for short breaks or touring holidays. As well as Villars-Gryon, the family weekend will be available in Les Diablerets (which has a snow-sure glacier), Leysin, Les Mosses and Château-d’Oex. The skiing is typified by lots of wide, gentle slopes so suits novices and intermediates best.

Staying there

The Hotel Les Sources in Les Diablerets from SF55 per person per night (up to 12 years old free), Hotel Le Bristol and Hotel du Golf in Villars from SF75 (up to nine years old free). There are also guest houses from SF35 pppn in Leysin and Les Diablerets.
