Free skiing in Livigno

Livigno - 13 Nov
Livigno in Italy kicked off the new ski season on Friday 13 November, with free lift passes and an announcement that its new spa centre will open in December.
Ski for free
The Carosello gondola will serve a limited amount of terrain in that sector, with free access until 20 November. But the ‘Skipass Free’ offer will also be available for the whole area when it opens on 29 November – until 25 December; and again for a late season visit between 17 April and 2 May 2010.
Take a dip
Livigno’s main news this winter though is the opening of the Aqua Granda Wellness Park – a full leisure centre, with pools, gym, beauty clinic and more. The centre is due to open to the public on 12 December and should prove a popular off-slope attraction, being the first public facility of its kind in the resort.
This corner of Italy has a decent snow record too and, with Livigno enjoying duty-free status, is a good-value choice for novices and intermediates. The resort has received more snow this week, with base levels now between 12cm at 1815m and 55cm on the upper slopes (2760m).
