Avoriaz has lots of slope-side apartments

There is still plenty of time to take advantage of this season’s fabulous snow conditions, and still plenty of good savings on available holidays.

Pierre and Vacances, one of the biggest operators of French apartment holidays, is offering discounts of up to 30% on its remaining lodging for March and April, as well as a good saving on one of its key resorts – Arc 1950. Prices for an end-of-season week in April start at 599 euros for a one-bedroom apartment in Arc 1950 Le Village, which is a high altitude, convenient base from which to explore the whole of Les Arcs. Apartments are well-appointed and with the use of a pool and/or spa facility.

There is also good availability on Easter Week too, again up to 30% off the original price. An apartment sleeping four to five people starts at 792 euros in Flaine, 800 euros in Avoriaz and 740 euros in La Plagne. There are studios for two from 568 euros per lodging. Other resort options include Alpe-d’Huez, Méribel and Val d’Isère. All are based on self-drive travel. Holidays depart on the week starting 7 April 2012.

If you want to avoid the holiday periods, there are still some apartment packages available for the weeks of 3rd and 10th March, plus 14th April. For example, a studio for four in La Plagne has been reduced to a figure from 518 euros (@£435) per apartment (was 699 euros – about £585) for the week beginning 10th March.

The prices are based on full occupancy. Most of the properties are either 3- or 4-star; but there are a few apartments left at the new luxury 5-star L’Amara residence in Avoriaz – 1150 euros (£960) based on 4 sharing, on 14 April.
