The Sella Ronda in the Italian Dolomites opens both ways this Sunday, 13 December.

“At the moment, the temperatures are low and the snow-making systems are producing snow,” said a statement from Dolomiti Superski.

The 42km circular “skitour” around the Sella Massif opens on Saturday, and then in both directions on Sunday, 13 December.

This week’s snow report from Weather To Ski points to huge shortage of snow in the southern Alps and Dolomites, but this news will be welcome to skiers booked to travel next week — including Editor Watts who will be in Alta Badia at the weekend.

The Sella Ronda has a total of 433km of pistes. This year there is one new lift on the circuit, the La Farina quad chair above La Cassiana will be replaced by a six-pack chair.
