Skiers enjoy Bank Holiday snow

One last highland snow fling ... Cairngorm Mountain, May 2010
A dusting of new snow and Bank Holiday crowds gave Cairngorm another superb weekend of spring skiing and snowboarding.
Cairngorm’s winter season has been terrific, and weekend visitors were still reporting pockets of powder snow on the upper slopes to start May – although generally runs are now fairly broken lower down.
The resort is the last to remain open in Scotland, and will do so on weekends until the end of the month – as long as there is sufficient demand and reasonable snow cover. The funicular and four other lifts were open on Monday 3 May. And at present, the mid-mountain snow depth is reportedly 90cm. According to the resort, over 700cm snow has fallen this season!
