With good snow coverage in the Alps and more forecast, now is the time to check out some excellent deals on offer for the New Year and January.

Ski operators have released their festive bargains in line with the traditional Boxing Day sales - and we have a selection here to get the snow taste buds watering …

Many deals are half price or thereabouts; we are listing these in our Bargains section but also here.

We start with Ski Total and Esprit Ski, which have offered a couple of great chances to ski big areas.

Families can get a big saving on a trip to Selva Val Gardena with Esprit: Chalet Silvia for £325pp on 8 January. The price amounts to £1,229 for a family of four (two adults, two children), and is a saving of £1,287 per family – not to be sniffed at in these difficult financial times. The deal includes flights and transfers from Gatwick via Innsbruck; the the usual catered chalet board offerings.

Ski Total has the Chalet Monet in Les Gets (also a popular family resort) for an excellent £340pp (reduced from £679pp). This is for a week commencing 15 January, in a luxury chalet with hot tub and the usual catered accommodation. Flights are from Southampton.

Igluski.com has come up with five festive sale specials: three for January, two for March. Check these out in our Bargains section, but how about savings of over £200 on January holidays? Montgenèvre for £486pp on 8 January, or Sauze d’Oulx for £350pp half-board on 8 January? The March offers are giving away a second lift pass, when you purchase one adult pass on their deal to Les Deux Alpes or to Zell am See.

Ski Power has chalet and lift pass deals on 14 and 21 January, and prices on premier chalets from £299pp. Val d’Isère is £599 including a pass. Or there hotel Gelinotte is £499pp including a lift pass – minimum of four booking.

Head off to the New Year snowfall in the first week of January with Ski Amis: remaining rooms in chalets start at £369pp excluding flights. They have La Plagne, La Tania and Les Menuires.

Skishuttle.co.uk has a deal to La Plagne, including coach travel, accommodation and a lift pass from £365pp. And SkiWorld has good reductions on apartments in Alpe d’Huez for January (from £268pp based on four adults sharing).

From Monday 2 January Skiworld launches its half-price sale. Over 200 February and March holidays will be discounted by 50%, 35% or 25%. How about Sölden for £399pp chalet board?

If you are heading further afield to North America, Ski Independence is offering reductions on British Airways flights, saving almost £200pp on the prices to Vancouver and Calgary in Canada, or to Denver and San Francisco in the US.
