Val d’Isère boosts sustainable tourism and new kids play area

Val d’Isère is the largest ski area in the world to be certified by the Green Globe International Standard for Sustainable Tourism and inline with their environmental commitments, Val d’Isère’s lift company have committed to reducing the number of lift pylons on their mountains by 100 by 2022. Val d’Isère has a wider range of environmental measures which include tree re-planting and active measures to increase the visibility of lift cables to birds, which in turn will reduce the number of accidental collisions.

Val d’Isère has also announced a new kid’s play area, aptly names Valkids, which will be located on the Solaise. This new playground will be for 4 to 10 year olds and will offer ‘behind the scenes’ activities including: cable car driving, snow-making, piste grooming and mountain rescue. The area, will also host its own toboggan piste and sitting/ relaxation area.
