White wraps up half-pipe

Kilner quallifies handsomely to make the semi-finals
Britain’s Ben Kilner gave an impressive performance in the half-pipe, putting him in the semi finals at Cypress Mountain. But he was no match for the unstoppable Shaun White – the US star rode to gold with an impressive 48.4 points out of 50 to clinch the title.
White was expected to stun the audience with his double grabs, back double corks and trademark double McTwist 1260 to take the gold medal – the latter he performed in his second run victory lap. Finland’s Peetu Piiroinen took the silver medal, 3 points behind White, and another US rider Scott Lago took the bronze.
Kilner 21 put in a super ride to qualify for the semi finals. He eventually finished in 18th place, having fallen on both his runs. It was a disappointment for the young Brit but he was ‘stoked’ to have reached the semi finals of the Olympic event, and the chance to compete against with the leaders. He’ll now look ahead to the Sochi Games in 2014.
‘I now need to go out there and learn the new tricks that the top guys are doing. For Sochi 2014 I’ll hopefully be able to catch up with them.’
