Summary

Champagny is a quiet, charming village in a pretty wooded setting on the back side of La Plagne’s ski area. There are several hotels and a chalet-style development, the Alpages de Champagny. It is at the opposite end of the slopes from the link to Les Arcs but well placed for an outing by taxi or car to Courchevel. La Plagne’s slopes amount to 225km, of which most are blue or red - an intermediate’s paradise. There are sunny red runs back to the village too, though they are not really suited to timid intermediates and are prone to poor conditions – a potential drawback for many visitors.

News – this season 2011/12

A new six-pack replaced the slow Verdons Sud chair from the Champagny sector to Les Verdons above Plagne-Centre.  A three-year renovation plan kicked off in the shopping malls in Plagne-Centre. A new swimming pool and spa complex opened in Montchavin, by the main chair.

News – last season

Area news: A new black piste linked Col de la Chiaupe, at the bottom of the glacier area, to Les Bauches. The Les Coches-Montchavin blue run was made easier.
