Summary

Campiglio is a pleasant Dolomite town with an affluent, almost exclusively Italian clientele – a bit like Cortina, though the scenery isn’t in quite the same league. Folgarida and Marilleva (to which the slopes are linked) are quite different and worth exploring by adventurous intermediates and better.

News

For 2009/10 there is a new red slope, Pista Patascoss, to the village from the lower Cinque Laghi slopes – constructed to mark the centenary celebrations in the resort this year. The nearby Patascoss mountain restaurant has also been fully renovated. A new terrain-park only lift pass has been introduced, with access via the Grostè lifts. Two 4-star hotels and a nightclub have also opened.

Long-standing plans to link Campiglio’s Cinque Laghi sector to one extremity of Pinzolo’s slopes have also moved along. The link – a three-stage, 5km gondola – is planned to open in late 2010. Also planned for opening then are two new pistes at Pinzolo.

For 2008/09 two 4-star hotels opened – the Cristal Palace and the ‘boutique’ hotel Chalet Dolce Vita.
