    News – 2017/18

The big new Coulouvrier six-seater chair-lift, replacing the slow, old and much shorter Lanche chair, starts much lower than the Lanche and so is accessible from Samoëns 1600, thus creating an alternative route to Tête des Saix. It’s a staggering 2850m long – one of the longest in France. Two new pistes have been created, with two more to follow for next season.

    News – 2016/17

At Samoêns 1600 the short Demoiselles chair was replaced by a fast six-seat chair; a new blue piste, Ecureuil, was opened. On the back of Tête des Saix, the Gentianes and Airon chair-lifts were replaced by the fast six-seat Tête des Saix chair, starting at Les Molliets.

    Summary

Samoëns is the cutest of lower, traditional village bases sharing the impressive Grand Massif area with high, purpose-built Flaine; it’s not the most convenient for skiing, but its fans are willing to forgive that.
