Summary

With its four distinct mountains all linked by lifts (and to varying degrees by pistes), Schladming offers the keen intermediate a real sense of travelling around on the snow. But you may find one slope rather like another.
The resort does not offer one of Austria’s wildest après-ski scenes, but most of our reporters don’t mind that – they find its solid, valley-town ambience a pleasant change from the Austrian norm.

News

For 2009/10 an eight-pack (Märchenwiese) replaced a T-bar near the top of Planai. The run of the same name was improved. On Reiteralm, 45 new snow-guns were installed and a new terrain park built near the gondola top station.

On Hauser Kaibling, a new fast quad with high visibility hoods serves the upper mountain from 1835m to 2015m. Snowmaking was increased and a new restaurant/cafe opened at the valley station. A moving carpet was installed at the family hotel Hauser-Kaibling in Haus.

For 2008/09 access to Hochwurzen was improved by a chondola from a new departure point above Rohrmoos, serving two new pistes. And a terrain park was built on Planai for the first time.
