La Tania

France

La Tania - home slopes

The upside

  • Part of the Trois Vallées – with good access to Courchevel and Méribel
  • Long runs through woods to the village – a great place in a storm
  • Attractive, small, traffic-free village
  • Much improved snowmaking but ...

The downside

  • At this altitude, snowmaking is vital
  • Limited village diversions
  • Village nursery slope gets through-traffic (but higher one does not)
  • Remote from the highest and most snowsure slopes of the Trois Vallées

Summary

La Tania is a good-value, family-friendly base from which to explore the slopes of its swanky neighbours, Courchevel and Méribel. Trips to the far end of the huge Trois Vallées are possible, but it is hardly the ideal starting point.
It is a purpose-built resort, and at 1350m about the lowest you’ll find; its wood-clad buildings sit comfortably in a pretty woodland setting – quite a contrast to the bleakness of classic French ski stations.

News – this season 2011/12
