Summary
Valloire offers a compelling combination of an old mountain village with extensive slopes, branded Galibier Thabor, and shared with the more modern two-part resort of Valmeinier. The village is the best known of the Maurienne valley resorts and retains a quiet, rustic charm of narrow streets set around a lively market square. The slopes spread widely across three sunny sectors, served by two gondolas out of the village, and are particularly good for intermediates wanting lots of gentle cruising and a sense of travel. Experts will find the challenges limited, although there is some decent off-piste opportunity towards Valmeinier.
