Summary
There are few places to rival Alpe-d’Huez for extent and variety of terrain – in good wintery conditions it’s one of our favourites. But as the season progresses the effects of the strong southern sun become more and more of a problem.
If you don’t fancy staying in Alpe-d’Huez, think about the smaller bases nearby – especially Vaujany and Villard-Reculas.
News – this season 2012/13
In Vaujany, a new ice rink is scheduled to open.
News – last season 2011/12
A six-pack replaced the long, slow Fontfroide chair on Signal de l’Homme. And a new blue run, Pré-Rond, was created from the top towards Auris-en-Oisans. An old drag in the same area was removed. At Oz-en-Oisans a new blue slope and 16 more snow-guns were added.
A new 4-star hotel, the Alpenrose, opened in Les Bergers, near the lifts, and a CGH 4-star residence and spa, Le Cristal de l’Alpe, was new in the village centre.
More free off-slope activities were added to the lift pass. The Premium card is available as an extension, which includes equipment hire and use of the indoor pool and sports centre.
