Summary
Sunnier and cheaper than Ischgl, Galtür is a good base for families and mixed-ability groups looking for a quiet time in a scenic location – but with the extensive terrain and jolly aprés-ski of its bigger neighbour a short bus ride away. The village has a pleasant central area, pretty church, a few hotels and restaurants that spread out along the road towards Wirl, at the foot of the slopes. The Silvapark slopes are limited in extent and can be bleak; but quite varied and snow-sure, with a fine nursery area.
News – this season 2011/12
In Ischgl: A six-pack replaced the Sonnenlift T-bar on the nursery slopes at Idalp. And a covered moving carpet was installed in the same area. There’s a new umbrella bar at the Panorama restaurant. Work began on a new Pardatschgrat gondola for 2012/13.
News – last season
In Ischgl, a six-pack was installed up from the Höllenkar valley (on run 24) to the top of Greitspitz, serving the red and black pistes on its northern slopes.
On the Swiss side, a six-pack replaced the Mullerbahn quad from Alp Trida to Alp Bella.
