A very pretty valley with good access from Innsbruck. Quiet charming villages with modest local runs. Schlick 2000 is not extensive but easy cruising after snowfalls or if winds close glacier.
Neustift is a typical Austrian village with a mix of good hotels but not much nightlife. The Jagdof is the best hotel in town and although expensive is very good value relative to what you would pay in more fashionable resorts.
The glacier at the end of the valley is a 30-40 min journey but you get used to it and the scenery is great.
Although extremely snow sure, conditions can be very harsh and high winds can restrict lifts. Wrap up well or lose a layer of skin even later in the season.
Good intermediate skiing with some opportunity for off piste. Not many really challenging runs and the few blacks are little more than reds with a difficult start.
Mountain access has been improved over the years but gondolas up to glacier can be a bottleneck especially at weekends or if there is no snow in lower resorts.
Not recommended for beginners due to harsh conditions often found and long haul up to the Stubai.
Great for long weekend at reasonable price all season long.
