Where to Ski And Snowboard -

Review of Flaine

25th March 2009 by ElizabethM

Just returned from another great week in Flaine (Mar 09). It’s easy to get to (from Geneva) and the original resort is so convenient when you’re there (unlike the new Hameau area).

All the runs in the Flaine bowl lead back down to the resort, so you don’t get lost or stuck, good for people with no sense of direction.

There are some long runs outside the bowl - Cascades (down to Sixt), Portets and Marvel, all scenic. There are some good bump runs - Aigle Noir, Agate, and Diamant Noir the most notable.

We rented a sunny apartment through Agence Renand, who provided a good service and speak English. We hired skis from Flaine Superski 2000, but they over-rode our requests and gave us their choice of skis rather than ours - not good.

On a tight budget so didn’t eat out much but did enjoy waffles in the cafe by the Aup de Veran gondola, and galettes at Etoile de Neige in Morillon.
