Where to Ski And Snowboard -

Review of Davos

21st March 2007 by Mark Otway

Short (3 day) visit March 17-20 2007, couple plus third adult

Hotel Meierhof
Parsenn Ski area

Location:

- 2 hours by taxi (600 CHF) from Zurich airport

Hotel:

- 5 minutes walk from Parsenn lift station
- Well sized rooms
- Good food (half-board), not tempted to eat in the a la carte restaurant, decent wine list
- Good swimming pool and sauna etc.
- Fussy procedure for using their internet connected PC but wi-fi available in sitting area

Parsennhutte ski area:

- New (lower) mountain train frequent and fast
- Higher train from mid-station slower but has a parallel quad chairlift
- Most people have to come down by train from the mid-station, the only run down is a black and it ends up quite a distance from the lift station
- Better signposting of runs than some other resorts in Switzerland
- ‘Bare mountain’ visibility problems when it’s snowing
- Mid-station restaurant Hohenweg has good food and quick service even when very busy
- Parsenhutte restaurant perfectly acceptable cafeteria style
- The long run down to Klosters is not all that interesting, lower third is trails through the trees (not pistes)
