Review of Söll

26th February 2012 by jeannie

We went to Söll in January 2012. Söll is a small town, nearly all the accommodation is within walking distance. The main gondola is about 15 minutes’ walk up from the town, across a main dual carriageway. There used to be an underpass there, but for some reason, it’s been filled in and a roundabout built where you have to cross.

There is a big ski garage under the main ski hire place, which itself is just along from the gondola, so it’s easy to get your skis from there and store them in the garage. This saves you from walking in your ski boots and carrying skis.

The SkiWelt area is enormous; however, getting around it is not always easy. The pistes sometimes don’t correlate with the piste map and they are not signposted very well either.

We skied across to Scheffau, which we liked better than Söll. Après-ski is great at the Hexenalm, just down from the gondola in Söll. For eating, the Postwirt has good food, as does Harry’s Bar (opposite the Information Office). During our transfer, we drove through Ellmau, which also looked very nice.
