Where to Ski And Snowboard -

Review of Canazei

24th January 2011 by mcleak

Had a week in Canazei mid January 2011. Stayed at Hotel La Perla, travelled with Inghams.

The hotel is excellent, 100m or so from the main gondola. Great food and boot room. Bedrooms are not huge but well kitted out and comfortable. Beer and wine cheap by ski resort standards. The Italian rep (Silvia) knows the area well and had some great advice. Great value for money, highly recommend it.

Best Apres Ski was at the Paradis Bar - great fun. Cliff Bar near the main gondola also good.

No problems with queues, maybe as it was January. Fantastic ski area, the choice is endless. Great for intermediates and beginners, not much to challenge the experts. Worth getting the ski bus up the valley to ALBA, no queue at all at the cablecar there and it accesses the Pozza area. A good black run takes you down to Alba , or you can download on the cablecar. From Pozza you can catch a small train that takes you in 5 mins to PERA and access to the VIGO area. This was almost deserted, and has great runs of all standards, including a proper challenging black (Piste Alberto Tomba)

Canazei is a charming largish village, and hard to find fault with really.
