Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience

Michelin-starred chefs Marcus Wareing, Heston Blumenthal and Sat Bains hard at work in the Chaumière mountain hut in Courmayeur
In the line of duty and research for WTSS and Daily Mail/Telegraph Ski Magazine, I’ve been lucky enough to visit nearly all major resorts in the world. And I’ve enjoyed some fabulous experiences, such week-long heliskiing trips in the Canadian wilderness.
But still on my bucket list is the Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience run by Momentum Ski. This started three seasons ago and features top UK-based Michelin-starred chefs recruited by Heston Blumenthal, who came up with the idea along with Momentum founder and MD Amin Momen.
This season’s event takes place in Courmayeur from 17 to 20 March 2017 and includes three days of skiing, mountain lunches in Heston’s favourite spots with specially selected menus and the opportunity to meet and chat with the chefs. The highlight will be two very special dinners created exclusively for the event by the guest chefs – Sat Bains, Claude Bosi and Jason Atherton. Full details can be found at Mountain Gourmet Ski Experience
Momentum also organises other unusual events in the mountains such as the City Ski Championships in Verbier and hurtling down an Olympic bobsled track near Innsbruck after training by Amy Williams, gold medal winner in the skeleton event at the 2010 Olympics.
But its bread and butter business is arranging tailor-made short breaks to a host of resorts throughout the Alps and a variety of corporate trips including ones with a special twist, such as ice driving in an Aston Martin car or holding a conference in the brand new facilities at the 3462m at the top of the new cable car up the Italian side of Mont Blanc.
For more details see our features on Short skiing breaks and Corporate ski trips.
Amin Momen says ‘We try to be different from other tour operators and offer more unusual experiences. So as well as mainstream resorts such as Kitzbühel, Courmayeur and Megève, we offer our clients some of our favourite less-well-known resorts such as Garmisch, Madonna di Campiglio, Engelberg and Madesimo
