With all this snow finally falling in the Alps, now’s the time to start planning your spring skiing — and why not team up with friends to hit one of the many music festivals taking place across Europe during March and April.
Crystal Ski Holidays operates in 130 ski resorts in 12 different countries across the world, including France, Austria, Switzerland and Andorra which are hosting some of the best mountain music festivals on offer to skiers and snowboarders this spring.
The tour operator has rounded up its pick of the best festivals, along with details of how to book tickets and accommodation.
Snowboxx – Avoriaz
18 – 25 March 2017
Snowboxx is one of the big ones. This isn’t just a collection of venues hosting artists for a couple of days – this is a resort dominated by full-blown festival atmosphere.
Having previously hosted the likes of Sigma, Jungle and hip-hop legend Grandmaster Flash, the line-up is certain to impress. This year, it’s headed up by Basement Jaxx, Wilkinson and High Contrast to name a few. If they – and the prospect of a week of fantastic French skiing – aren’t enough to get you dancing, we don’t know what is.

Stay below Avoriaz in Les Prodains with Crystal from £646 per person (two sharing) for a weeks’ half board at the Hotel Les Lans including flights and transfers.
Rock the Pistes - Portes du Soleil
19 – 25 March 2017
Not to be confined to a single resort, Rock the Pistes is a week-long festival held over the entire Portes du Soleil ski area, with different resorts hosting different events every day.
We’re yet to see a full line-up, but entry to the various stages is free with your lift pass, so book your holiday and get the festival as a bonus. Win-win!

Stay in Morzine with Crystal from £634 per person (two sharing) for a weeks’ bed & breakfast at the Hotel Igloo including flights and transfers.
Horizon – Arinsal
26 March – 2 April 2017
Horizon is a heady week of upcoming dance and urban artists - and a couple of more familiar names - from big UK grime and hip-hop artists like AJ Tracey and Mumdance to everybody’s favourite Robot Wars presenter Craig Charles. If it’s dancing, great value and high-altitude skiing you’re after, look no further.

Stay in Arinsal with Crystal from £465 per person (two sharing) for a weeks’ half board at the Hotel Palarine including flights and transfers.

Snowbombing – Mayrhofen
3 – 8 April 2017
Snowbombing is a raucous five-day rave with some of the world’s biggest dance artists and DJs taking the stage, including Chase & Status and Shy FX, as well as Radio 1’s MistaJam and Super Hans (of Peep Show fame). Keeping it snowy, not only are you on a mountain, but there’ll be ‘Igloo Raves’ and scheduled appearance from Eddie the Eagle.

Stay in Mayrhofen with Crystal from £620 per person (two sharing) for a weeks’ bed & breakfast at the Hotel Obermair including flights and transfers.
Zermatt Unplugged – Zermatt
4 – 8 April 2017
In a festival scene dominated by big-name DJ sets and Apres Animals, Zermatt Unplugged offers an opportunity to see live music on snow in a more laid back and intimate atmosphere. Everyone’s tastes are sure to be catered for, with big names ranging from Ronnie Scott’s All-Stars, to Nelly Furtado to Paolo Nutini, The Temper Trap and Jess Glynn.
Not only will the music be fantastic, but you can spend your days skiing in the shadow of the awesome Matterhorn. We fail to see a downside.
