Peisey Vallandry: the perfect quiet base in Les Arcs

If you want a quiet base in Les Arcs the villages of Peisey Vallandry are ideal
If you’re planning to go skiing in Les Arcs, but want a quieter base, the villages that make up Peisey Vallandry is an ideal choice.
The neighbouring, small-scale mountain villages of Vallandry and Plan-Peisey are largely purpose-built in traditional chalet style and are a great quiet alternative to the busier bases elsewhere in the Les Arcs ski area.
They have wonderful views across the valley to the La Plagne ski area and French Alps specialist Peak Retreats offers a choice of four-star residences in Peisey Vallandry (all with access to pool and spa facilities) plus a Club Med.
There are good nursery slopes and two fast chairlifts take you into the Les Arcs ski area and serve lovely tree-lined home runs, particularly welcoming when it’s snowing. Plan Peisey is also the starting point of the Vanoise Express cable car that links Les Arcs to La Plagne, so Peisey Vallandry is a great base from which to explore the whole of the Paradiski area.
For a break from slope time, head to the new Mille8 in Arc 1800 which offers tubing, sledging, an aquatic centre and golf simulator plus a new slope-side Le Lodge restaurant and bar with its own dancefloor.
For a meal out closer to home, the Ancolie at Nancroix is one of Where to Ski and Snowboard’s favourite restaurants – a fabulous traditional auberge with welcoming hosts and excellent food.
The characterful old village of Peisey down the hill has narrow streets, traditional houses and a fine baroque church; guided visits by torchlight are organised to explore it.
Peak Retreats has teamed up with Les Arcs to offer its guests a special deal with their ski passes this winter.
For the Easter weeks beginning 1 April and 8 April, buy two adult Les Arcs/Peisey Vallandry or Paradiski lift passes and receive two complimentary Mille8 or Rodeo Park sledge vouchers per party — worth €8 per run.
Peak Retreats also have a special offer in April — seven nights from 8 April at 4* luxury self-catered apartment L’Oree des Cimes from £316pp. Price based on five sharing a two-bedroom apartment (sleeps six) and includes a return Eurotunnel crossing with free FlexiPlus upgrade.
