Stanford offers flexible skiing

Stanford Skiing is offering guests even more choice this winter in Megève
Tour operators and chalet companies are offering increasingly flexible ski holiday options for skiers who no longer want to stick to the formulaic week-long package holiday.
Stanford Skiing, a family company that specializes in the charming French ski resort of Megève, has added extra options this season to its already flexible programme to give skiers even more choice.
To its already impressive portfolio of hotels, chalet hotels, catered chalets and self-catering apartments — plus weekend, short break and week-long stays and a transfer service from Geneva airport — Stanford Skiing has added a semi-catered option. Guests staying in self-catered apartments can opt for the delivery or breakfast and dinner, for a small additional charge each day.
“Many of our guests love the idea of having an apartment to themselves but hate the idea of having to cook so we’ve come up with an innovative new approach,” says Elizabeth Cahir, owner of Stanford Skiing.
“At the start of the week we will supply a breakfast hamper containing lots of goodies to keep them going for the week and deliver fresh bread, croissants and pain au chocolat daily. Our hosts will prepare a delicious but simple two course evening meal which will be left in the apartment fridge daily. When our guests get back from skiing and at a time of their choosing they simply pop the appetising meal in the oven, open a bottle of wine and relax!”
Sample dinner menus include beef bourguignon with glazed carrots and mashed potato followed by lemon tart; confit of canard with a red wine sauce, seasonal vegetables and dauphinoise potatoes followed by dark chocolate mousse; or Savoyarde tartiflette with charcuterie and a seasonal salad followed by raspberry pannacotta.
Breakfast delivery costs £3 per guest, per day and the two-course dinner costs £12 per person, per day (vegetarian options are available).
Stanford Skiing can deliver fresh croissants and bread each morning
To complement its new semi-catered options, Stanford Skiing has increased its portfolio of apartments, with two new beautiful and spacious apartments close to the Rochebrune cable car. Both apartments have been newly refitted and benefit from two en-suite bedrooms each with twins or double beds and stunning views of Mont Blanc.
With the announcement that this season Megève has revamped the Chamois gondola and replaced the rickety old chairlift on the Epaule of Mont Joly with a fast six-man chair, with more investment to the lift system in coming years, if you haven’t visited this resort with its charming medieval pedestrianised centre, now is the time!
Stanford Skiing offers apartment, chalet and hotel holidays with catered chalet prices from £480 per week plus flights. They are one of the few operators offering weekend breaks in Megève, which start from £320 for three nights in a catered chalet.
