Airport expansion to add more winter flights

24th February 2008, by Chris Gill

Councillors have backed plans for Exeter airport to expand, meaning more flights for south west travellers wanting to use their regional airport.

Despite a strong campaign against the move, the airport is expected to offer more routes shortly.

Air Southwest will be one of the first airlines to introduce new flights: skiers and boarders will benefit from departures to Chambery, France, next winter - beginning in December 2008.  The increasingly popular French airport is seeing more traffic from the UK as an alternative gateway to the western Alps, including the Three Valleys, Paradiski and Espace Killy resorts.
