Lake Louise and Sunshine Mountain resorts will open this week to some of the best early season snowfall for many years.

Following Whistler Blackcomb’s ‘epic’ opening on 5 November, three weeks ahead of schedule, Banff Resort’s two major ski centres are reporting excellent conditions for those first tracks on opening day. “We’ve got a 102cm snow base at the alpine level [Lake Louise] and incredible conditions in the back bowls,” says Matt Mosteller, Senior Director of Business Development with Resorts of the Canadian Rockies.  The resort’s recent investment in snowmaking capabilities should also ensure a perfect start.

Just one day ahead of Lake Louise, and boasting its best early season snowfall for sixteen years, http://www.skibig3.com/onmountain/sunshine.cfm”>Sunshine Village ski area will fire-up eight lifts for today’s grand opening. The latest resort pictures to drool over are available on the skibig3 website.

The third Banff resort, Mount Norquay is scheduled to open on 9 December.

Over in Whistler:  Blackcomb Mountain has reported the best opening day visitor numbers for ten years. Keen to be the first on the slopes, one skier and his mates even camped out on chairs the night before. The resort re-opens 11 November.
